Gardening Catalogs


Christmas is over and I am anxious to start looking at some seed catalogs and start planning the garden. But this year the catalogs have not arrived; is it cost, perhaps companies are not mailing unless asked for, or maybe they are just going paperless.

So I'm online searching for catalogs and boy are there are an incredible amount of sites and too many pages to decipher. I hope to make this task a little easier next year (see the list below). I must confess my best picks are from local companies, I'm not sure why that is...perhaps because these strains have been tested and adapted to the area that I live. And look at what I found....US Department of Fish and Wildlife Service, agronomist, landscape managers and botanist all agree on Ecotype Seed. Native seed which has evolved over thousands of years to adapt to the soils, temperature, rainfall, geology, insects, and disease pest for your particular area.

Johnny’s farm is located on Foss Hill Road in Albion, Maine, a farm community 10 miles east of Waterville, Maine.
